Several types of therapies may be used during your treatment session:
Deep Tissue Muscle Therapy
Most treatments include comfortable deep tissue massage work of the problem area(s) performed by the doctor. It is a very important part of the treatment, as this work allows the doctor to better understand the extent of injury or trauma and to begin the healing process by providing better blood circulation and by breaking up unwanted scar tissue.
Therapeutic Ultrasound
My office uses ultrasound therapy as an integral part of your treatment. Ultrasound waves are introduced into the affected body region by means of mechanical vibration of the metal treatment head of the ultrasound machine. These ultrasound waves generate a comfortable heat deep within the contact area and promote healing by reducing inflammation or swelling, by improving blood circulation, and by breaking up scar tissue and adhesions. Many offices do not provide this effective treatment as it is very labor intensive, but it is well worth the effort.
Moist Heat Packs
Heat packs are often used during a treatment session. They are applied to the affected areas before gentle joint adjusting to complete the warming of injured areas, allowing for very comfortable joint adjusting.
Chiropractic Adjusting
Most treatments conclude with gentle chiropractic adjusting to affected spinal and extremity joints to restore full joint motion which had previously been lost by muscle spasm and scar tissue.
Exercise and Supplement Recommendations
Many times I will demonstrate and perform simple exercises and recommend safe supplements to help support the positive changes that have been made following the treatment.
